Step 1 – Drawing the upper side of the pot

Aloe Plant Drawing Step 1

To draw this sweet little aloe, let’s first start by drawing the pot. We are just going to go ahead and draw a curve right across. So this is going to be the top of our pot. It is all up to you and how big you want your pot to be. Ours is going to be about that wide. And then from there, on the corner right here, on the edge, we are just going to round it off.

Step 2 – Finishing the pot

Next, we are going to bring in a slanted line down on both sides. Then, go ahead and connect it, following our top curve. Then we have to lift the pot so that we are going to draw the bottom of the pot now. We need to come in a little bit, following the same angle  and we are just going to go all the way down on both sides. So once again, it is all up to you how big you want your pot to be. It is about the same level and we are just going to round off the bottom again and then go ahead and connect it with a curve.

Step 3 – Drawing the first leave

Okay, so then, from there, let’s draw the aloe. We are going to come right on top of the lip of this pot and right in the center. We are just going to wobble some dirt. Just an indication of dirt. Wobble does not really matter, but we just want to give the base for our plant to grow from, or something like that. Just right on top of the pot. We can go ahead and start to draw our aloe.

These leaves are kind of wider at the bottom, and then they taper off, so we are just going to start right in the center and just have fun with this, and then at the tip. We are going to round it off and bring it right back in. So it is all up to you how you want to draw your owl. There’s no wrong or right way but we are just going to fill up this top space. And we are not making ours prickly because we want ours to be soft but if you want it to be prickly, you can come just give it a bunch of zigzags.

Step 4 – Filling the leaves

Okay we are just going to go ahead and fill up the pot. We will go different directions. And then in the back, you can tuck some smaller leaves just to fill up the space. We keep continuing to draw leaves and once again, the same thing, just tuck it in. And one more, just to fill up the space. And it is all done.  Also, add more curve lines near the bottom of the leaves to give an indication of the dirt.

Step 5 – Decorating the pot

So then, from there, let’s bring this aloe to life. We are going to draw a big circle for the eyes. Also, we are going to make their eyes so cute. So there are two small circles inside for highlights and a curved line at the bottom. Do not forget to shade at the top and add lines at the bottom. We are going to come above each eye and just draw a soft curve above each eye.  And let’s give our aloe here a very happy smile. In the center, we are going to go up with a curve. You can leave it like that, or if you like, you can add a little slanted u at the bottom and then a tongue and shade this part in there.

Step 6 – Drawing the hands

Then now for the hands. We are going to tuck in the hand that is behind his pot. Then thicken it up. The other hand, of course, is going to be waving because he is saying hello. Let’s come out with a curve, thicken it, and then right at the end, we are just going to thicken the thumb finger. So just this part is going to be a little bit thicker.

Step 7 – Decorating the pot

Now, we will decorate the pot. We are going to put a heart right in the center.  Go ahead and draw one heart, and another one on the end as well. So now we are done with the drawing. We are going to come in here and write the pun, which is “Aloe there”. Finally, add an exclamation mark, and we are done.

Step 8 – Let’s color!
